Sr. Bernard (Ellen Mary) Farrell was born in County Tipperary, Ireland and entered the Ursuline community in 1927. After earning undergraduate and master’s degrees from Fordham University she went on to earn her Master of Legal Studies from St. John’s University. She dedicated her life to education and taught at Nativity BVM, Our Lady of Grace, St. Thomas the Apostle, Holy Family High School, and St. William the Abbot. Through her ministry, Sr. Bernard instituted a parish program to prepare children with disabilities to receive the sacraments.
