Sr. Cecilia Moloughney was born Alice Mary in Tippeary, Ireland as the 7th of 10 siblings. When she made her First Holy Communion, she decided to to dedicate her life to God and at the age of 16 she followed in her sister’s,
Sr. Patricia’s, footsteps to become an Ursuline Sister of Tildonk. Sr. Cecilia took her vows in 1935 and attended Fordham University where she eared her MA in Theology and Religious Education and MS Ed in Administration and Method. She served at St. Michaels in Greenwich, CT for 30 years and spent 18 of those as their Director of Religious Education where she also tended to the sick and homebound and was very active in the parish’s women’s association. She also taught at Nativity BVM, St. William the Abbot, and Holy Family High School, and was the Coordinator of Adult Religious Education for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Sr. Cecilia was an accomplished musician and directed choirs and concerts while serving as the organist at the parishes in which she served. Sr. Cecilia also served the Ursuline community in several capacities, including Director of Novices for ten years; Provincial Councilor for eight years; and Chairperson of the Ursuline International Commission which laid the groundwork for the writing of the order’s new constitution decreed by Vatican II.
She was joined as an Ursuline Sister of Tildonk by her sister, Patricia.
