Sr. Hedwig was born in Connecticut and professed her final vows as an Ursuline in 1962. She earned a BS in Education and a MS in Philosophy from St. John’s University as well as a diploma in Lumen Vitae in Brussels. Sr. Hedwig taught at Our Lady of Grace, St. William the Abbot, and St. Maurice before becoming an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy at St. John’s University in 1966 and an Adjunct Lecturer in Catechetical Theology at Immaculate Conception Seminary in 1971. In 1969 she became the Coordinator of Parent & Sacrament Formation for the Diocese of Rockville Centre. Sr. Hedwig served the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk as the Provincial of the US Province as well as the Assistant and then General Superior for the Ursuline congregational government in Belgium for 18 years. She retired from active ministry in 2004 and lived her retirement in spirituality and prayer in Blue Point.
