January 18, 1917 – March 13, 2017

Sr Carmel was born in Waterford, Ireland and entered the congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk in 1940 at the age of 23. Her ministry as a teacher was extensive and included teaching at Nativity BVM, St. Thomas the Apostle, Our Lady of Grace, and Our Lady Star of the Sea. Sr. Carmel retired to Blue Point in 2003 where she continued her ministry of prayer and visiting the sick.

Three months prior to her death, over 25 family members flew in from Ireland to join her as she celebrated her 100th birthday.
