Born on October 25th, 1918 in County Tipperary, Ireland Sr. Philomena (Anne Theresa) entered the congregation of the Ursuline Sisters of Tildonk in 1935 and was among the first group of postulants to enter the newly formed American Novitiate in Blue Point. Having earned a BS in Education from St. John’s University, a MA in History from Fordham University, and a PhD in Political Science from St. John’s University, Sr. Philomena ministered as a teacher and principal for many years. She taught at Our Lady of Grace for twenty years until she was named principal of St. Maurice for six years. Sr. Philomena also spent ten years as the Provincial for the congregation and worked at St. Ursula Center as the retreat coordinator.
