Sr. Ursula, born as Mabel and raised in Ozone Park, NY, was a gifted teacher, particular to the children in 1st and 2nd Grades, and during her life she taught at Nativity BVM, St. Thomas the Apostle, and Our Lady Star of the Sea. Known for her love of taking care of others, her ministry also included coordinating hospitality and the care of the retired and infirmed Sisters at St. Ursula Center in Blue Point, where she also volunteered with East End Farmers, helping migrant farmers and their families get access to healthcare, clothes, food, and school supplies. At the time of her death, Sr. Ursula had devoted 76 years of her life as an Ursuline Sister of Tildonk. She is remembered fondly as someone who embraced fun and laughter and set an example to others through her generosity of spirit, faith, and joy.
